water's low

This is the pond at the ranch where my dad works.

On the far side you can see just a sliver of white, well that's the spillway. This is about 6 or so feet down. I wish the cows had been in there to show you scale, but if a cow were in the water in the middle of the pond, it would be up to just above its belly(about thigh high to you). If the pond were full, you'd be drowning standing in that water.
Not all of this is due to the drought, some is from them using the water to keep some areas of grass from dying.
