That's great, I hope you post pics when you get it.
I made a doughnut out of a huge chunk of malachite I got off ebay. It's not a traditional doughnut, since it isn't round, but I cut a hole in the middle and sculpted both sides. I have it strung on 36" of greek leather, but it's a bit large and I haven't worn it out yet. I did wear it to bed on night, I slept great.
that's one thing I haven't figured out--how to put it on a necklace. My cousin is going to give it a loop but I'm not sure what to use for the chain. the leather sounds like a good idea.
I like the combination of leather and stone, since both are natural.
It's simple to hang a doughnut, just fold the string in half and run it through the hole, then put both of the other ends through the loop in the string on the other side.
I got the stones. I have a leather cord for them, but I don't know how to fasten the ends of the cords together. I'm thinking of making another macrame cord out of black and gray thread. I haven't put up a picture of the cord I made for my Poi/infinity pendant either.
What do you mean by fasten the ends? Tie? If it's not going to be long enough to pull over your head, I recommend getting a clasp. There are clasps for any type of cord. I'll need to know more about the type of cord you got to help you pick out a clasp, if that's what would best fit your needs.
The turquoise one is tide in the back. There is a 2-3 inch tails on the turquoise cord. I knotted them in the back.
The cord is braided leather. I could cut the tails, but I'm not sure now to replace the protection on the end that keeps them from unraveling. Could I just wrap clear tape around the end to hold it?
Tape isn't the best option for keeping the ends from unraveling, but it would work. You could go to a hardware store, just tell them what you're trying to do and they might have another option[I'm thinking some sort of crimp ring, but I don't know exactly what you're going for]. Or maybe find a crafts store and see if they have any ideas.
I think that the ends probably don't want to be cut, as braided leather will definitely unravel.
I should have the pendant by the end of the week. There's actually going to be two similar ones. One just the stone and the other with a silver backing and hanger.
My cousin has ordered a torus (donut) of turquoise to make into a necklace for me. I'm looking forward to seeing it.

Sorry I couldn't be of more help.
